Aiesha & Sam
Our Story.
Aiesha and Sam first met in high school in Sydney’s inner west. They were on opposite sides of the school social scene, and their only memorable interaction was when Sam stepped on Aiesha’s foot at their Year 12 formal—a moment she still reminds him of regularly.
They first caught each others eye in 2017 and quickly discovered a shared love of music. They bonded over Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Rain and Prince’s Purple Haze and soon realised they shared the same questionable sense of humour.
After a few inseparable months of dating, their relationship turned long-distance when Sam moved to Guadalajara, Mexico for a year of study. Aiesha later joined him in Guadalajara, and their shared travel adventures and countless hours on Skype laid the foundation for what can only be described as true love.
In 2023, after celebrating their six-year anniversary, Sam proposed. Now, they find themselves making the truest and easiest decision they’ve ever made: getting married!
Our Family.
Aiesha and Sam have always shared a deep love for animals. Since moving in together, they've fostered two rescue dogs—a Jack Russell and a Corgi pup. They also fostered an older Staffy who quickly became a permanent member of their family.
Over the years, their household has grown to include Ngaire the Tortie, Malu the Obelix, and pups Bradley and Winnie. Their little family is likely to expand further, both with little humans and, undoubtedly, more animals. All of their family have been rescued and adopted through local animal rescues, a cause that Aiesha and Sam hold close to their hearts.
Our Playlist.
When Aiesha and Sam were 12,000 kilometres apart and in different time zones, they stayed connected by creating Spotify playlists for each other. While one slept, the other would wake up to a new playlist filled with fresh discoveries and old favourites. It became their way of communicating when they were oceans apart. In 2023, Sam proposed by embedding clues in Spotify playlists that led Aiesha to the moment he asked her to be his wife.
Music has always been a significant part of their lives. Sam's eclectic taste includes deep cuts, playing guitar, and memorising the discographies of his favourite artists. Aiesha finds comfort in playing music and browsing the vinyl section of op-shops. They didn't just fall in love with each other, but also with each other's playlists.
Here's a little taste of their aural love affair.
